Lot 82:
A Bow Pinecone Moulded Caudle Cup and Saucer, circa 1760-1770
Description
A Bow pinecone moulded caudle cup and saucer, decorated in underglaze blue on a white ground. The cup’s exterior and the saucer’s surface feature a distinctive molded pinecone or scale pattern. Both pieces are adorned with borders of geometric hexagonal cells and central floral motifs, including a prominent floral spray in the saucer’s well and a simpler bloom inside the cup. The cup is fitted with a single, molded loop handle. The base of the cup bears faint handwritten marks, including ‘BOW’, consistent with the period.
