An English 19th Century Blue and White Transferware Oval Serving Dish, with Partridge and Foliage Motif
Description
An oval ceramic serving dish, decorated with an underglaze blue and white transfer-printed design. The central motif features two birds, possibly partridge or similar fowl, amidst dense flowering foliage, enclosed by an ornate scroll and floral border on the rim. The ceramic body is white. The style is consistent with 19th-century English transferware, exhibiting a possible Orientalist or Chinoiserie influence. The reverse is plain and lacks any discernible maker’s marks or text.
