Antique 9ct Yellow Gold Curb Link Single Albert Watch Chain with Carnelian Spinning Fob
Description
A late Victorian or Edwardian 9ct yellow gold single Albert watch chain. The item is constructed from a uniform curb link chain terminating in a swivel dog clip. A solid T-bar is attached to a jump ring on the main chain, which also suspends a shorter length of curb chain ending in a decorative spinning fob. The fob mount is set with a translucent, brownish-orange oval carnelian seal stone. Each individual link of the curb chain is struck with the fineness marks 9 and .375. The T-bar bears incised marks reading 9 and .375, alongside a small maker’s mark that is not clearly legible. The dog clip is stamped with 9 and .375. The shoulder of the fob mount features a series of small hallmarked strikes including the fineness marks 9 and .375; the remaining marks for city and date are present but not legible as distinct characters. A small length of white string is tied to the loop above the dog clip.
