An Early 20th Century Austrian Bentwood Armchair with Heart Cutout Backrest
Description
A bentwood armchair constructed from steam-bent wood, finished in a dark mahogany-toned stain. The piece features a curved, continuous back rail that forms the rear legs, enclosing a backrest with a fan-shaped splat and a central heart-shaped cutout. The chair is designed with scrolled armrests and a solid, contoured D-shaped wooden seat. The legs are supported by a circular bentwood stretcher. A small, illegible white rectangular label is affixed to the top of the left armrest. This design follows the traditional form of early 20th-century Austrian cafe furniture, consistent with the number 23 model style.
