A Tudor Revival Carved Oak Chest with Linenfold Panels
Description
A solid oak chest of Tudor Revival design, constructed as a single unit. The rectangular hinged top opens to reveal a plain interior fitted with a metal chain lid-stay. The front of the chest is decorated with three carved panels; the outer panels feature linenfold motifs, while the central panel is carved in relief with a heraldic coat of arms and a scroll bearing the motto FIDE. To the right of these panels are two false drawer fronts, each fitted with a metal drop-ring handle. The piece is raised on a shaped plinth base.
