A Metal Shipping Trunk for J.T. Atkinson of Acres Hall Farm, Pudsey
Description
A metal shipping trunk of rectangular form, constructed with iron or steel panels and corner reinforcements. The trunk features a hinged lid and a central front-mounted latch mechanism. The exterior is finished in a dark paint, now heavily distressed. The lid is inscribed with hand-painted white lettering which reads 5081578 J/T Atkinson J, Acres Hall Farm. PUDSEY. (Near Leeds), Yorkshire, England. Additional painted text below this indicates Dims. 21 x 13 x 10 and Wt. 0-1-16. Several adhesive labels are present on the lid: a larger white rectangular sticker with the number 386 and a smaller white label reading Sol. The front face of the trunk is marked with the painted number 377.
