A Group of Vintage Hardcover Books Including News Chronicle and George Newnes Publications
Description
A collection of vintage hardcover books featuring a variety of literary, reference, and gardening titles from the early to mid-20th century. The group includes a volume of the News Chronicle Golden Treasury bound in tan faux-leather with decorative gilt-tooled borders and lettering to the spine and front cover. The words News Chronicle are printed at the base of the spine. Also present is Newnes Everything Within bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration, featuring the publisher name George Newnes at the base of the spine. A white rectangular adhesive label is adhered to the front board of this volume, printed in black with SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS LOT 384 01132502626. The collection further contains Down The Garden Path by Beverley Nichols bound in green cloth with the name CAPE printed at the base of the spine, and An Attic Philosopher In Paris by Souvestre in a red cloth binding with gilt floral motifs and lettering. A slim volume titled The Bedside Book of Discovery (Volume IV) from The Reader’s Digest Bedside Library is included, alongside a heavily worn tan volume with significant loss to the spine material.
