A Victorian Ceramic Floral Wash Jug and Basin Set
Description
A ceramic wash jug and basin set featuring transfer-printed floral bouquets of poppies and wildflowers in shades of red, pink, and yellow against a cream-coloured ground. The pieces are finished with a graduated green-tinted border and scalloped edges retaining traces of gilt decoration. The jug is designed with a bulbous body and a scroll-moulded handle. The interior of the jug and the well of the basin are similarly decorated with floral sprays. A white rectangular adhesive label is attached to the neck of the jug reading SHIELDS AUCTIONEERS / LOT / 341 / 01132509526. Below this, a smaller white rectangular adhesive label bears the handwritten characters 12708 / D.. A yellow measuring tape is present in the background for scale.
