A Gilt-Metal and Onyx Five-Light Candelabrum and Matching Dish
Description
A decorative set consisting of a five-light candelabrum and a matching circular dish, constructed from gilt metal and cream-coloured onyx with tan veining. The candelabrum features four scrolling foliate-cast arms surrounding a central light, each terminating in a fluted candle cup set within a wide, scalloped drip pan. The central column includes a shaped onyx section above a circular onyx base, which is raised on four cast metal acanthus-leaf feet. The accompanying circular dish is carved from matching onyx with a central indentation. A white rectangular paper label is adhered to the stem, bearing the handwritten characters 3 2 5. No other maker marks, signatures, or hallmarks are visible. The item is designed in a Rococo-revival style.
