A 9 Carat Gold Oval Locket and Neck Chain
Description
An oval yellow metal locket suspended from a fine trace-link neck chain. The locket is decorated with an embossed floral and scrolling foliate design to the front cover, while the reverse is plain and polished. The chain terminates in a bolt ring clasp. A yellow handwritten paper tag is attached to the piece, bearing the inscriptions 12699, 9ct, and 7.20g. A white adhesive label for Shelbys Auctioneers is also present, printed with LOT 232 and 01132502626. A small impressed mark is visible on the metal tab near the clasp, however, the characters are not clearly legible. Given the illegible hallmark, the item should be considered as either solid 9 carat gold as indicated by the tag, or a gold-plated alternative.
