Description

A pair of framed hand-coloured prints after celebrated pastoral works by John Constable. The first print depicts The Cornfield, featuring children by a wooden gate in a rural landscape. The second print depicts The Hay Wain, showing a horse-drawn wagon crossing a river beside a cottage. The technique appears to be hand-coloured engraving or lithography, executed in muted tones to replicate the original oil paintings. No edition numbers, signatures, or publisher marks are visible on the face of the prints. Both works are presented in ornate gilt-effect frames with off-white mounts under glass. A small white adhesive label is present on the mount of the right-hand print containing the handwritten characters 9, 6, 2, 7 and P, x, 2, likely serving as an internal inventory reference.
Frame height: approximately 46 cm.
