Description

Two Victorian porcelain presentation or christening mugs of cylindrical form, each featuring a flared, stepped foot and a loop handle. The mugs are decorated with hand-painted vignettes and ornate gilt and sepia-toned scrollwork. One mug depicts a rural landscape with a manor house and lake, inscribed in gilt calligraphy with the name Reilly Mullin and the date 1853. The second mug is decorated with a polychrome spray of garden flowers and is inscribed with the name Margaret Winkham and the date 1859. Both items feature gilded rims and base rings. While no maker marks are present, the style and decoration are consistent with mid-19th-century Staffordshire porcelain production.

Height: 8.9 centimetres.
