A Royal Worcester Blush Ivory Porcelain Twin-Handled Cup and Reticulated Saucer
Description
This set consists of a fine porcelain twin-handled cabinet cup and a coordinating saucer manufactured by Royal Worcester. Both items are decorated in the blush ivory style, featuring a cream-coloured ground with hand-painted floral motifs including roses and lilies in pink, yellow, and blue tones. The cup is designed with two scrolled gilded handles, a plain white interior, and a gilded foot and rim. The saucer features a shaped, scrolled rim with heavy gilding and a section of reticulated pierced work. The base of each piece bears a purple Royal Worcester factory mark with a crown, four intertwined W characters, and the number 51. The cup base features an additional purple mark resembling a stylised 7 or Z with a cross-bar. The saucer is further marked with the registration number Rd No 158959, indicating the design was registered circa 1890, the shape number 1471, a hand-painted black mark EN, and a small green caret-shaped mark. A single purple dot is present beneath the factory mark on the saucer, suggesting a production date of circa 1892.
