A Collection of Decorative Trinket Boxes and Glass Paperweights
Description
A collection of various decorative trinket boxes and glass paperweights featuring diverse materials and techniques. The group includes a cobalt blue glazed porcelain circular box with gilded foliate borders and a pale green hexagonal porcelain box with applied polychrome ceramic flowers on the lid. Also present is an egg-shaped turned wood box showcasing natural grain. Several circular and oval boxes, of lacquer or papier-mache construction, are decorated with hand-painted or transfer-printed motifs including birds, floral arrangements, and a black cat, with some displaying gold-toned patterns in an East Asian style. The collection further includes two spherical glass paperweights, one containing a green floral-form inclusion and the other a white rose-form inclusion. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces; however, one box bears a small white adhesive inventory label with the handwritten characters 5822.
