Lot 256:
A Collection of Denby and Hornsea Heirloom Mid-Century Stoneware
Description
A collection of mid-century British glazed stoneware comprising two distinct decorative ranges. The first group features a reactive mottled glaze in tones of dark brown, tan, and cream, characteristic of studio-pottery styles. This group includes a teapot with a fitted lid, several mugs of varying sizes, and a small jug with a flared, pinched rim. Bases of these pieces bear the marks for Denby and Lovatts, Made in England. The second group consists of Hornsea Pottery in the Heirloom pattern, featuring a saffron ochre-yellow glaze with a contrasting dark brown transfer-printed geometric band of interlocking links. This group includes a pitcher and a lidded sugar bowl or preserve pot.
