A Pair of Victorian Style Copper Lustre Staffordshire Spaniel Mantel Dogs
Description
A pair of glazed earthenware mantel ornaments modelled as seated King Charles Spaniels, consisting of one left-facing and one right-facing dog. The figures are finished in a white glaze with hand-painted facial features including yellow eyes and black muzzles. They are decorated with copper-toned lustre patches to the ears, tails, and bodies. Each dog features a molded collar and chain with a padlock, also highlighted in copper lustre. These figures are in the style of 19th-century Staffordshire pottery. One figure bears a small white adhesive paper label with the handwritten reference 9630 over p.
