An Antique Chip-Carved Wooden Folk Art Triangular Stool
Description
This antique wooden folk art stool features a triangular seat with elaborate chip-carved geometric patterns. The carving includes a central hexagonal honeycomb design surrounded by radiating star and diamond motifs. The piece is supported by three turned, tapering legs with ring-turned detailing and is finished in a dark stain. The construction consists of a solid wood seat into which the legs are socketed. The underside shows the terminus of the leg joins. The geometric decoration is executed in a traditional chip-carving technique across the entire upper surface of the seat.
Condition report:
The stool exhibits visible wear, scuffing, and minor finish loss consistent with age and use. Wear is particularly evident along the edges and high points of the carved decoration. The structure remains stable with some evidence of historical surface abrasions.
