Various Makers, Mixed Collection of Antique and Vintage Dolls and Miniatures, Bisque, Composition and Hard Plastic, Various Sizes
Description
A diverse assortment of mid-20th century and earlier dolls and accessories. The collection features an unmarked Indigenous-style souvenir doll with a hard plastic or vinyl head, sleep eyes, and a dark synthetic wig, dressed in an original multi-coloured beaded felt outfit and housed in its original box. Also included is a doll with a composition or bisque head on a cloth body, featuring painted eyes and a short fibre wig, wearing an original blue satin gown with lace trim. The lot further comprises a pink celluloid doll with moulded features, an all-bisque miniature with pipe-cleaner limbs, a miniature bisque baby in a metal spring-loaded carrier, and a composition doll in a blue checkered dress. Novelty figures include a cloth Golliwog-style doll and a stockinette-headed clown. Accessories include three individual doll heads (two bisque, one composition or celluloid), a stained wood cradle, a Tiny Golden Text Book, a clear glass bottle, a moulded animal figurine, and a walnut shell. Heights range from 1 inch to 8 inches.
Condition report:
Heads appear generally sound with some minor paint loss to facial features; no visible cracks or repairs to the bisque components. Bodies and limbs show age-related wear and light soiling. Wigs are slightly thinned or dusty. Original clothing shows some fraying and discolouration consistent with age. The box for the primary doll has minor shelf wear. Most items are unmarked or have marks obscured by clothing.
