Lot 71:
Collection of Seven Vintage German Tin-Plate Dexterity Games Including INDU and D.G.M. Marked Examples c. 1920-1950
Description
This lot comprises a diverse collection of seven vintage handheld dexterity and skill games, primarily of German manufacture. Constructed from lithographed tin-plate, these toys feature vibrant, multi-coloured illustrations protected by transparent covers. Notable examples include a piece marked INDU depicting a child and a monkey, and another bearing the D.G.M. 136906 (Deutsches Gebrauchs-Muster) registration mark with a star motif. The collection showcases a variety of whimsical themes, including a clown face, a cat operating a camera, circus animals, a swamp scene with crocodiles, and a deeper cylindrical game featuring children with dogs. These games typically require the player to manoeuvre small balls or rings into designated spots using physical skill. The lot represents a charming cross-section of early to mid-20th-century pocket entertainment.
Condition report:
The collection is in varied vintage condition, showing signs of age-appropriate wear. There is visible surface oxidation on the metal rims and minor scratches to the transparent covers. The lithographed colours remain generally bright, though some fading and minor paint loss are present. One item retains a small adhesive inventory label numbered 6182. All internal components appear to be present, though the functional movement of the internal balls may be affected by minor internal debris or oxidation.
