Joustra, JNF and Others, Four Vintage Tinplate Toy Vehicles, Tinplate, 1950s-1960s
Description
This lot comprises four vintage tinplate toy vehicles of European and potentially Japanese origin. Included is a Joustra Peugeot 404 sedan finished in cream with a detailed red interior, marked Made in France on the base. Also present is a Mercedes-Benz W196 Streamliner style racing car in silver with racing number 20, likely manufactured by JNF of Germany. The collection is completed by a lithographed tinplate ambulance featuring red cross motifs, the markings F-341 and PR 75, and white rubber tyres, alongside a red friction-drive pickup truck with a light blue cab roof and celluloid windows. All vehicles are equipped with friction or clockwork mechanisms. No original boxes are included. Era circa 1950s-1960s.
Condition report:
The vehicles show varying degrees of play wear consistent with age. The Peugeot 404 is in good condition with a clean baseplate and intact licence plate reading 270 FJ 13. The Mercedes-Benz racing car is in good condition with minor surface scratches. The ambulance and pickup truck are in fair condition, exhibiting more significant paint loss, surface oxidation to the unpainted metal bases, and tarnishing to chrome-coloured components. All items appear complete, though all mechanical functions are untested. No boxes are present.
