Schuco and Japanese manufacture, Group of Three Mechanical Bird Toys, Plush and Lithographed Tin, Mid-20th Century
Description
A group of three vintage clockwork bird toys. Includes a large mohair-style pecking bird, likely Schuco of Germany, featuring plush fabric over a metal frame with a felt tail; a small yellow plush hopping chick, likely Schuco or similar German manufacture, with felt beak and feet; and a brightly lithographed tin pecking bird, likely Japanese manufacture. All items date from the mid-20th century and feature clockwork wind-up mechanisms. One metal winding key is included. No original boxes are present.
Condition report:
The lithographed tin bird is in very good condition with vibrant colours and minimal surface scratching. The large mohair bird is in fair to good condition, showing age-related thinning of the fabric and light soiling, though colours remain visible. The yellow chick is in good condition with vibrant plush and minor wear to the feet. All mechanisms are present but remain untested for operational longevity. The lot appears complete but lacks original packaging.
