Sphinx and Mixed Makers, Vintage Baby and Collector Dolls, Composition and Bisque, 10-18 Inches
Description
This miscellaneous lot features a variety of vintage dolls and components, primarily consisting of composition baby dolls, a contemporary bisque collector doll, and a cloth-bodied doll. A notable maker mark includes a triangular SPHINX brand label on one cloth torso. The composition dolls feature moulded and painted hair, while the collector doll has a blonde synthetic wig and the cloth-bodied doll has a dark fibre wig. Eye mechanisms vary, with several dolls possessing weighted sleep eyes and others featuring fixed glass or painted eyes. The dolls are dressed in assorted lace and fabric garments, including bonnets and dresses, which appear to be a mixture of period-appropriate pieces and later replacements. The lot includes various loose composition limbs and a large detached head. Height 10 to 18 inches.

The collection is offered in as-found condition as a restoration or parts lot. The composition elements show significant age-related wear, including heavy crazing, cracking, and surface lifting or loss. One large doll is currently disassembled into a head and limbs.
