Unmarked German, Bisque Head and Composition Baby Dolls, Bisque and Composition, 23in and 14in
Description
This lot comprises two vintage dolls. The first is a large German-style bisque socket head doll on a fully articulated ball-jointed composition and wood body. It features blue glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes and an open mouth. The doll is currently missing its wig. It is dressed in a vintage cream-coloured cotton dress with a gathered waist, puffed sleeves, and lace-trimmed bloomers. The second is an all-composition jointed baby doll with moulded and painted hair and blue sleep eyes. This doll is presented without clothing. Height 23in and 14in.
Condition report:
The bisque head of the larger doll appears in good condition with no visible cracks or chips. Its composition body shows surface wear and minor paint loss at the joints and extremities. The wig is missing. The vintage clothing shows age-related yellowing. The composition baby doll is in poor condition, exhibiting significant and heavy crazing, cracking, and alligatoring across the entire surface, along with paint loss on the torso and limbs.
