Description

A large Chinese export porcelain plate featuring a pale celadon-green glazed ground, richly decorated in overglaze polychrome enamels from the famille rose palette. The interior composition depicts a central long-tailed bird and various butterflies amongst auspicious fruiting branches, including peaches and pomegranates, interspersed with floral sprays and ribbon-bound scrolls. The reverse features a recessed white-glazed centre bearing a four-character seal mark in underglaze blue. This style of decoration is characteristic of the late Qing Dynasty, often produced for the Western market. Diameter: approximately 30 cm.

Condition report:

The piece is offered in generally good condition. There is minor surface wear consistent with age and use. Small areas of adhesive residue are present on the front surface. The unglazed foot ring shows typical minor kiln grit and light staining. No chips, cracks, or restorations are apparent under visual inspection.
