Lot 48:
Unmarked, Pastoral Maiden and Girl with Lamb
Description
A lot of two porcelain figurines, likely Japanese export in the European style. The first is a bisque porcelain figure of a young woman modelled in Victorian-style pastoral attire, carrying a bundle of grain, with hand-painted polychrome and gilded details. The second is a white-glazed porcelain figure of a young girl in a ruffled dress holding a lamb. Neither piece bears factory marks, though the white figure retains a paper inventory sticker. Height: 11.5 inches and 11 inches.
Condition report:
A chip is present on the hat brim of the bisque figure along with minor wear to the gilding. The white figure has a small firing crack or minor chip to the interior base rim.
