Mid-20th Century Anglo-Indian Hand-Carved Sheesham Nest of Four Tables
Description
A mid-20th century set of four nesting tables of Anglo-Indian origin, crafted from solid sheesham hardwood. Each rectangular table features a hand-carved border of intricate floral and foliate patterns, accented by decorative corner motifs. The aprons and knees are further embellished with complementary relief carvings. The tables are supported by slender, turned legs joined by sturdy box stretchers. This set represents the mid-century tradition of South Asian craftsmanship adapted for the international market. While no maker’s label is present, the smallest table bears a small white inventory tag on the apron. Dimensions (Largest Table): H 53 cm x W 48 cm x D 33 cm (approximate).
Condition report:
The structural integrity of the set is sound. The original finish exhibits minor, age-appropriate surface wear and light scuffing throughout. There is noticeable finish loss on the lower sections of the legs and feet. No significant splits or evidence of previous restoration are visible.
