Scheibe-Alsbach, Pair of Porcelain Roosters
Description
A pair of dynamic hand-painted porcelain roosters produced by the Scheibe-Alsbach manufactory in Thuringia, Germany. The colour palette features naturalistic cream and tan tones, accented with grey and blue wing feathers and vibrant red combs and wattles. Both figures bear the blue underglaze factory mark of a crown above a shield with the date 1859. One base includes a blue underglaze square mark containing the number 30. Height approx. 28 cm.
Condition report:
No major chips or visible repairs. A tiny white speck on the red comb of one rooster may be a minor fleabite chip or a light reflection. Minor shelf wear and surface soiling to the unglazed base rims.
