Unmarked, Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Lancet Mantel Clock, c. 1905
Description
An Edwardian mahogany mantel clock of lancet-top form. The case is constructed from mahogany with decorative boxwood marquetry inlay featuring bow and foliate motifs, flanked by small brass columns at the front corners. The circular cream-coloured dial displays black Arabic numerals for the hours and smaller numerals at five-minute intervals, protected by glass within a brass bezel. The movement is a timepiece type, likely mechanical and accessed via the rear, though no winding holes are present on the dial face. Dimensions: Base width approximately 25 cm (10 inches).
Condition report:
Untested and not currently running. The mechanical movement requires professional inspection. The mahogany case shows minor surface wear and light scratches consistent with age, with a small auction sticker present on the front right panel. The dial, hands, and glass appear original and are in good condition. No key or pendulum is present.
