Lot 33:
A Victorian English Glass Beadwork Ladies Footstool
Description
A mid-Victorian English circular ladies footstool, featuring a hand-worked glass beadwork top. The decorative programme consists of a traditional floral and foliate motif, executed in a palette of rose, olive green, and chocolate brown beads against a neutral ground. The upholstered panel is secured within a deep, turned wooden frame, likely mahogany, displaying a rich natural patina. The piece is elevated on three white ceramic bun feet, a characteristic feature of domestic furniture from this period. No signatures or manufacturer marks are present. Category: Antique Glass. Diameter: 28 cm. Height: 12 cm.
Condition report:
The stool is offered in aged condition. There is a significant section of loss to the wooden rim, accompanied by a structural crack. The beadwork shows evidence of surface wear and general fading, with some minor losses to the glass beads. The ceramic feet remain intact but show expected wear to the contact points.
