Lot 31:
Unmarked, Two Tambour Mantel Clocks, Early 20th Century
Description
These two unmarked vintage mantel clocks are designed in the classic Napoleon hat or tambour style. Both feature mechanical, twin-train key-wind movements with two winding arbors, indicating they are strike movements that typically sound on the hour and half-hour. The cases are crafted from wood, likely with oak or mahogany veneers, featuring curved tops, extended wings, and decorative moulded borders along the base. The left-hand clock has a silvered dial with black Arabic numerals and Breguet-style hands behind a glazed metal bezel. The right-hand clock features an aged dial with Arabic numerals and black hands behind a glazed metal bezel. Chimes are likely a simple internal gong strike. Dimensions: Each approximately 42cm x 23cm x 12cm.
Condition report:
Both clocks are untested and sold as-is. The movements are twin-train but their running status is unknown. The left-hand clock case is in fair condition with minor age-related wear, while the right-hand clock case shows visible cracking and surface wear. The left dial is in good order, but the right dial is heavily stained and discoloured with a bent minute hand. No pendulums or winding keys are included.
