Lot 26:
Mid-20th Century Traditional Revival Solid Oak Nest of Three Tables
Description
A graduated nest of three tables in the traditional revival style, dating from the mid-20th century. The set is constructed from solid oak throughout, finished in a dark stain that emphasises the natural grain of the timber. Each table features a rectangular top with rounded edges, supported by sturdy trestle-end legs. The supports are characterised by scalloped profiles and small decorative piercings, all joined by low-set rectangular stretchers for added stability. The design reflects the mid-century interest in Tudor and Jacobean revivalist forms, common in British craftsmanship of the era. No maker’s marks or stamps are present. Dimensions (Largest Table): Height 48 cm, Width 51 cm, Depth 36 cm.
Condition report:
The tables are in sound structural condition with all joints remaining secure. The dark-stained finish exhibits moderate surface wear consistent with regular domestic use, including various scuffs, scratches, and areas of minor finish loss to the tops and edges. There are no visible signs of woodworm, significant splits, or previous structural repairs.
