Late 20th Century Regency Style Mahogany Writing Table
Description
A Regency-style mahogany writing table of mid-to-late 20th-century manufacture. The rectangular top features a moulded edge over a two-drawer apron, with each drawer fitted with circular brass-toned ring pulls and a central keyhole. The desk is supported by a classic X-frame or curule-style base, joined by a central turned stretcher for structural support. Decorative turned ring accents are featured where the tapered legs meet the frame. The piece is constructed from mahogany and similarly stained hardwoods, finished in a warm satin lustre. This table reflects the neoclassical proportions of the early 19th century, adapted for modern use. Dimensions: 76 cm H x 107 cm W x 53 cm D.
Condition report:
The table is in good structural condition. The finish is well-preserved, showing only minor surface wear, light scratches, and small indentations to the top consistent with age and domestic use. The drawers function smoothly and the hardware is secure. No evidence of woodworm or major restoration.
