Description

An early 20th-century Tudor Revival side table, likely designed as a humidor or smoker’s stand, constructed from solid oak. The rectangular top features a single drop leaf to the rear, overhanging a deep frieze drawer. The drawer front is embellished with a central inset panel featuring traditional linenfold carving and is fitted with two turned wooden knob pulls. The piece is supported by four ring-turned legs, characteristic of the Jacobean influence popular during the 1920s, all joined by a sturdy low-level box stretcher. The timber displays a prominent grain pattern throughout, typical of English oak. This piece represents the high-quality revivalist furniture of the inter-war period, blending Art Deco era production with historicist aesthetics. 72cm H x 48cm W x 34cm D.

Condition report:

The table remains in a structurally sound condition with no significant movement in the joints. The finish shows signs of light surface wear, including minor scuffs and small marks to the top surface and edges, all consistent with age and domestic use. The drawer operates smoothly, and the wooden hardware is original and secure. No evidence of active woodworm or major restoration.
