A Federal Revival Hepplewhite Style Mahogany Sideboard
Description
This Federal Revival sideboard is designed in the elegant Hepplewhite manner, dating from the early to mid-20th century. The piece features a straight-fronted mahogany veneered top above a central drawer and a recessed arched apron, flanked by two deep drawers. The facade is ornamented with carved fan motifs in the spandrels and circular book-matched veneer medallions on the flanking drawer fronts. The sideboard is supported by six square tapered legs terminating in spade feet. It is fitted with polished oval brass bale pulls, and the central drawer retains its key. This piece reflects the neoclassical proportions and decorative vocabulary of the late Georgian period. Dimensions: 91 cm H x 152 cm W x 53 cm D.
Condition report:
The sideboard is in good structural condition. The high-gloss finish is well-preserved, showing only minor surface wear and light abrasions consistent with ageing and domestic use. The mahogany veneers remain intact with no significant lifting or losses. The brass hardware is in good order and appears original. No maker\'s marks or labels are present.
