Wm. Greenwood & Sons, Art Deco Oak Westminster Chime Mantel Clock, c.1930
Description
An Art Deco period oak cased mantel clock of Napoleon hat silhouette, retailed by Wm. Greenwood & Sons, Leeds & Huddersfield. The case features decorative inlaid dark wood stringing. The circular silvered dial is set with black Arabic numerals, a track-style outer minute ring, and black spade-shaped hands, protected by a hinged glass bezel. The clock is powered by a mechanical eight-day three-train movement striking the Westminster chimes on gongs. A Silent/Chime selector lever is located near the 3 o’clock position. Width approximately 28cm.
Condition report:
The movement is currently untested. The dial exhibits surface oxidation and age-related patination. The wooden case shows minor scuffs and surface wear consistent with age and use. The hands appear original. Key and pendulum are not present.
