Lot 75:
German, Westminster Chime Mantel Clock, Circa 1930s
Description
A German-made mantel clock in the popular tambour or Napoleon hat style, dating from the early to mid-20th century. The dial is marked FOREIGN at the six o’clock position, a common mark for German imports to the British market during this period. It features a mechanical three-train 8-day movement with a Westminster chime. The dark-finished oak case is decorated with applied scroll carvings at the front corners. The two-tone dial has a silvered chapter ring, black Roman numeral hour markers, and a dark wooden centre, with ornate brass-coloured spade hands and three winding arbors. The dial is protected by a glazed, silver-tone metal bezel. Dimensions: Height 22cm, Width 31cm, Depth 14cm.
Condition report:
The movement is currently untested. The case shows minor surface wear and small scratches consistent with age and use. The dial and hands appear to be original and are in good condition. No winding key is present.
