Description
A vintage Mettype Junior working toy typewriter manufactured by Mettoy in Great Britain, circa 1955. This index-style toy is constructed primarily from lithographed tin-plate with a vibrant red and green colour scheme. It features a manual operation where characters are selected via a rotating yellow index dial and printed by pressing down. The unit includes a manual moving carriage with a paper scale and plastic control knobs. This lot is complete with its original illustrated cardboard shipping box.
Condition report:
The lithographed tin-plate finish remains bright and colourful, showing only minor surface scratches and light oxidation along the edges consistent with age. The mechanical index dial rotates freely and the carriage remains intact; however, the printing function is untested. The item appears complete. The original box is present but shows significant vintage wear, including creasing, staining, and tears to the corners.
