Description

A fine pair of late 19th or early 20th-century German porcelain wall pockets, likely produced in the Thuringia region by factories such as Sitzendorf or Volkstedt. Each vessel is designed in the ornate Rococo style, featuring a centrally seated cherub or putto nestled within a dense arrangement of hand-applied, encrusted floral blooms, including lilacs and other small flowers. The pockets are finished with shell-like, scalloped rims, scrollwork accents, and gilded highlights. The reverse of one piece is impressed with the model number 7239 and bears an indistinct blue underglaze factory mark. Height: 16 cm.

Condition report:

One wall pocket displays a notable chip to the upper-left scalloped rim. Both pieces exhibit typical minor losses and small chips to the delicate encrusted flower petals, which is common for this type of fragile porcelain work. There is light rubbing and wear to the gilded accents consistent with age and use, though both pieces remain in good overall condition with no professional repairs noted.
