Lot 398:
Marquis by Waterford style and Associated Cut Glassware, Crystal Pitcher and Dessert Service, Circa 1990-2010
Description
This collection of colourless cut glassware is headlined by a large lead crystal pitcher identified as the Calais pattern from the Marquis by Waterford line. The pitcher features a classic arrangement of fan and geometric wedge cuts with a polished rim and a substantial applied handle. Accompanying the pitcher is a suite of four small footed dessert bowls with matching saucers, each decorated with a repetitive geometric etched border around the upper rim. The lot also includes a circular cut-glass jar topped with a perforated metal lid, likely intended for use as a potpourri jar or hair receiver. A small, unrelated frosted glass object with a metal base is also present on the shelf. While no etched manufacturer marks were observed during inspection, the pitcher’s design and weight are consistent with Marquis by Waterford production from the late 20th century. Measurements: Pitcher approximately 20cm height, Bowls 10cm diameter.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition, exhibiting some accumulated surface dust consistent with long-term display. No major chips, cracks, or professional repairs were observed upon visual inspection. The metal lid on the potpourri jar shows minor oxidation and age-related tarnishing. The set appears largely complete as a composite lot of table glassware.
