Unmarked (Early German or English Style), Fully Jointed Teddy Bear, Golden Mohair Plush, Early 20th Century
Description
This is an early 20th-century five-way jointed teddy bear, designed in the style of prestigious manufacturers such as Steiff, Chiltern, or Merrythought. The bear is crafted from golden mohair plush and features a traditional humped back, long tapered limbs, and a pointed muzzle. It is firmly stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and features glass or boot-button style eyes with hand-stitched nose and mouth detailing. The toy utilises a five-way disk jointing mechanism at the neck, shoulders, and hips, allowing for a full range of movement. No original box is included with this item.
Condition report:
The mohair exterior exhibits significant age-appropriate wear, including notable thinning and balding on the torso and limbs. The paw pads show wear and evidence of vintage hand-stitched repairs, particularly to the arms. The internal jointing mechanism appears structurally sound and intact, though the ease of movement has not been tested. The bear is complete and currently wears an added tan leather collar with a metal chain detail. No box is present.
