Description
This pair of vintage over-the-shoe roller skates, likely intended for a large doll or a very young child, dates from the mid-20th century. The manufacturer is unidentified as the items are unmarked. The skates are constructed from pressed steel base plates and wheels, featuring red-painted pressed metal heel guards. The adjustable straps are made of bright orange vinyl or plastic, secured with metal buckles. The mechanism is a simple four-wheel design with fixed-length base plates and straight metal axles. No original box or packaging is included.
Condition report:
The set is physically complete with all wheels and straps intact. The red paint on the heel guards shows significant chipping and wear. The pressed steel components, including the base plates and wheels, exhibit heavy oxidation, surface pitting, and a loss of original lustre. The orange vinyl straps show surface soiling but remain flexible. A small adhesive inventory label is present on one base plate. The free-spinning function of the wheels is untested, though all parts are securely attached.
