Unattributed German Style, Pull-Along Mohair Bear on Wheels, Cast Iron and Mohair, Early 20th Century
Description
An early 20th-century pull-along teddy bear, produced in the style of prominent German manufacturers such as Steiff or Bing. This unattributed piece features a straw-stuffed body covered in light brown mohair plush, standing on all fours. The bear is mounted on metal axles with four cast-iron or steel spoked wheels, designed for a manual pull-along mechanism. It retains a single glass or bead eye and a hand-stitched nose. No original box or manufacturer tags are present.
Condition report:
The item is in well-loved, vintage condition. There is significant mohair loss and thinning throughout, particularly on the head, back, and legs, exposing the underlying fabric and stuffing. The muzzle area shows heavy wear. The metal wheels exhibit surface rust and oxidation but remain in working order. The original pull cord is missing, and one eye is absent. No box included.
