Louis Marx and Co. and Unmarked, Ambulance and Mercedes-Benz W196 Style Racing Car, Lithographed Tinplate, Mid-20th Century
Description
This lot features two vintage lithographed tinplate toy vehicles from the mid-20th century. The first is a Louis Marx and Co. (USA) ambulance with a white body, Red Cross markings, and R-341 identification, featuring white rubber wheels and an internal wind-up or friction mechanism. The second is an unmarked open-cockpit racing car, styled as a Mercedes-Benz W196 Silver Arrow and numbered 20, featuring silver-blue lithography, black rubber tyres, and a friction drive. No original boxes are included for either item.
Condition report:
Both toys are in fair condition. The Marx ambulance shows significant paint loss, scratches, and surface oxidation to the roof and underside; it is missing the rear door and the mechanism is untested. The racing car exhibits heavy scuffing and scratches to the paintwork with oxidation on the underside; it is incomplete, missing the driver figure and one wheel. The friction mechanism is untested.
