Waite & Son Ltd Ceramic Table Lamp, Art Deco Style with Hand-Painted Spherical Base
Description
A vintage table lamp produced by Waite & Son Ltd of Mitcham, Surrey, featuring a spherical ceramic base. The body is finished in a cream-coloured glaze and decorated with hand-painted Art Deco motifs, including concentric circles and wavy lines in a palette of blue and silver. The underside of the base bears the manufacturer’s trade mark alongside the words HAND PAINTED and various hand-painted artist initials and numerals. The lamp is fitted with a tapered parchment-style shade, finished with a decorative braided fabric trim to the upper and lower edges. Height: approximately 38 cm.
Condition report:
The ceramic base exhibits extensive all-over crazing to the glaze and minor staining to the underside rim. The parchment-style shade shows light surface wear and minor discolouration consistent with age. The electrical components are untested and it is recommended that the fitting is inspected by a qualified professional prior to use.
