Description

A varied assortment of fine porcelain and decorative ceramic wares, primarily of English and Continental origin. The collection features a notable Wedgwood ‘Fortune’ series teacup and saucer in a vibrant turquoise glaze, decorated with a transfer-printed nursery rhyme and floral-moulded handles. Also included is a partial tea service, likely Crown Staffordshire, comprising several teacups, saucers, a cream jug, and a lidded sugar bowl, all featuring hand-painted floral sprays, scrolling gilt borders, and scalloped rims. The lot further contains a small hinged porcelain trinket box with floral motifs, a hand-painted bird figurine, a miniature floral-encrusted dish, and a circular vanity mirror embellished with a frame of applied polychrome ceramic flowers in the Dresden style. Various techniques are represented, including overglaze enamelling, gilding, and intricate applied ceramic work. Largest item (mirror) approximately 12 cm in diameter; overall group width as displayed approximately 30 cm.

Condition report:

The collection exhibits varying states of preservation. There is visible rubbing to the gilded rims and surfaces consistent with age and use. One teacup displays a significant hairline crack. Minor losses and chips are present on the delicate petals of the applied floral decorations on the mirror frame and the miniature dish. The trinket box hinge is functional.
