Sitzendorf, Porcelain Figurine of an 18th-Century Lady
Description
A finely detailed Sitzendorf porcelain figurine depicting a lady in 18th-century-style dress. The figure is modelled wearing an elaborate wide-brimmed hat adorned with roses, a floral-patterned bodice and overskirt with hand-painted rose and forget-me-not motifs, and delicate porcelain lace trim at the neckline, cuffs, and hem. She is posed standing on a rococo-style scrolled base with gilt accents. The underside features an underglaze blue mark consisting of crossed lines with horizontal bars at the ends, used by the Sitzendorf porcelain factory in Thuringia, Germany, from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century. Height approximately 20 cm.
Condition report:
Significant loss to the object held in the figure\'s right hand; the handle of what appears to have been a parasol or similar accessory is missing. Typical minor losses and chipping are present throughout the delicate porcelain lace trim on the sleeves and skirt hem. There is a visible chip on the inner rim of the hollow base. The hand-painted floral decoration remains bright. There is minor wear to the gilt highlights on the base and dress. An inventory label marked 2819 is adhered to the figure\'s skirt.
