Unmarked, Collection of Vintage Ceramic Figural Salt and Pepper Shakers
Description
A diverse assortment of approximately 14 vintage ceramic items, primarily consisting of salt and pepper shaker pairs and individual figurines. The collection features a variety of folk and whimsical themes, including Dutch-style figures in traditional regional dress with clogs and bonnets, a wedding-themed pair featuring a groom in a top hat and a bride in a veil, and figures in Scottish-style kilts. Also included are floral motifs featuring tulips in blue planters, a figure playing a lute or guitar, a baker or chef figure, and two plain, spherical cream-coloured shakers. The items are constructed from a mix of glazed and matte-finished ceramic and porcelain. No prominent manufacturer factory marks or decorator signatures are visible on the exposed undersides. Some pieces carry handwritten lot or inventory markers, including C 12 and 6182. Height approximately 4cm to 10cm.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall fair to good vintage condition. Significant fine crazing is visible in the glaze of several pieces, most notably on the larger Dutch-style and wedding figures. A prominent chip is noted at the base of one of the tulip-motif shakers where the flower meets the blue pot. Minor nibbles and small chips are present on the delicate floral elements held by the bride figure. General surface wear, minor paint loss, and kiln debris are present, consistent with age and previous use. Many pieces appear to be missing their original cork or plastic base stoppers.
