Royal Doulton, Southern Belle HN 2229
Description
A fine Royal Doulton glazed bone china figurine titled Southern Belle, model number HN 2229. This classic piece depicts a young woman in a voluminous tiered gown of vibrant red and pink colours, complemented by a yellow bodice with blue accents and a floral-patterned white underskirt. Modelled by the celebrated artist Peggy Davies, the base features the official Royal Doulton factory stamp in green, including the lion and crown logo, model name, and a 1957 copyright date. A hand-painted black decorator mark, possibly JL, is also present near the factory stamp. Height approximately 19 cm.
Condition report:
The figurine is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, crazing, or signs of restoration. The delicate fingers and skirt edges are intact. There is a temporary inventory sticker numbered 2819 on the front of the skirt. Minor shelf wear is present on the unglazed foot rim, consistent with age and display.
