Description
A mid-20th century French Art Deco ceramic figurine of a seated cat, designed in a striking cubist style with sharp geometric planes and ridges. The piece is finished in a multi-tone glaze featuring pale seafoam green, cream, and deep cobalt blue, with terracotta-coloured accents highlighting the edges. The base is incised with the model number 853 and bears the impressed manufacturer’s mark S.P.M. FRANCE (Société de Poterie de la Meuse). Length 22.5 cm.
Condition report:
Overall good condition with fine crazing visible to the cream-coloured glazed sections, consistent with age. No chips, cracks, or repairs detected. Minor shelf wear to the unglazed base.
