Description

An early 20th-century wrought iron floor lamp featuring a tripod base embellished with decorative scrollwork and barley-twist supports. The central column is designed with a telescopic height-adjustment mechanism, secured by a period-correct metal thumb screw. The entire wrought metal frame is finished in a cream-coloured paint, reflecting the revivalist aesthetic popular in the Edwardian and early inter-war periods. The lamp is accompanied by a detached, hexagonal multi-paneled shade upholstered in a light-toned damask textile with a scalloped lower edge. While no maker’s marks are present, the construction and scrollwork are characteristic of decorative metalwork from the 1910-1930 period, often associated with conservatory or garden room furnishings. Dimensions: Height 155 cm (adjustable), Width 42 cm, Depth 42 cm.

Condition report:

The structural integrity of the wrought iron frame is stable. There is visible surface wear and significant paint loss throughout the piece, particularly concentrated along the central telescopic shaft and the scrollwork of the base. The electrical components, including the internal wiring and socket, have not been tested for functionality and are sold as decorative items; professional rewiring is recommended before use. The detached fabric shade shows minor age-related discolouration and light wear to the textile panels but remains structurally sound.
